I Hate To Do It, But I Gotta

I hate moderated comments. I prefer to allow everyone free speech. But enough is enough. I am not going to allow one anonymous commentor who has only spiteful, ignorant and hateful things to say keep people who I admire and want to read my blog from visiting and/or commenting.
I don't want to cut off all anonymous commenting, but anyone who posts something rude or that doesn't pertain to the post that I have written will not have their comment posted.
To the person who contacted me about this. I appreciate your insightful words. I thought that by ignoring this commentor that he would go away. What I was doing instead was allowing him to bash people that I respect and admire without coming to their defense.
If anyone has ever directed a hateful comment toward you on my blog and I didn't defend you, I am really, really sorry.
Hopefully this anonymous commenter will realize that I don't want those kind of comments on my blog and will go elsewhere to spew his venom and vitriolic words.

You did the right thing. Your last post was a rather serious topic. I couldn't help notice how Anonymous found it convenient to slam your readers. So bizarre.

Sucky that you have to do this, but I think it's wise. Have a good night.

This is so sad that you have to monitor comments all because of some person lacking any brains to contribute and be civil. I would pay them no mind and hope they have enough sense to refrain from picking on someone they don't even know. You do a great job with this blog and as a parent. From what I have read thus far you give D the love and nurturing so he can go out into the world and become a good man and an honest one.. Some people have nothing better to do than pick fights on a blog.. That's so pathetic... and sad...

Egan ~ It is very bizzare and it has gone on long enough.

babybull40 ~ It is frustrating for sure. I appreciate your kind words. I do the best I can with what God gave me ~ which wasn't much..lolol

Good for you. I said on Wendy's blog that I was going to let the troll starve, which is no more than he deserves, and I have--not one more word have I spoken to him since then. Nor will I ever. He is, after all, obviously a legend in his own mind....and nowhere else.

Wish I'd known you when I lived in Michigan! any friend of Wendy's is a friend of mine. :) And hey...she's the reason I started blogging in the first place.

Next time you talk to her tell her that my daughter and I are having great fun playing geese, as in 'hey, I can make noise! me too! I'm gonna do it again! me too!' and on, and on, and on....until Grizzy loses his mind. A short trip, to be sure, but nevermind.

Join the club.

I was lucky that my PSYCHO stopped once I just took away anonymous commenting...they weren't that sad to get an actual Blogger acount, I suppose cuz it would take more effort to sign up and I suppose it's a more official way of tracking someone.

But yes, if you think your NUTJOB ASSWIPE would be fucked up enough to get his own dumbass Blogger account, than this is the right thing to do.

It's too bad it has to come to this.

But remember as I have been told...

People who leave nasty, anonymous comments exist ONLY in this cyberworld. You, RACHEL, are "real" to them.

They have no life other than this virtual one, no friends, nothing....this is the only world that makes sense to them because they can hide behind their computer.

These types of people are the lowest reaches of society

Anyways, here is to happy, stress free, fun blogging!

PS I am pretty sure you did stick up for me on my blog!

beth ~ I wish that I had known you when you lived in Michigan too. Wendy had I have been best buds for over 4 years now. Maybe next time you come back to visit we can meet.

wanderlusting ~ I remember the issues you had with your really nasty troll. Yours was really viscious towards you and it was completely uncalled for.
I don't remember what was said but I am glad that I stood up for you.

It's sad when it has to come to this, but blogging has an ugly side that rears its head every so often, just like real life.

Isn't it sad when we have to resort to moderating comments? You definitely did the right thing, though. I'm not sure if those types get off on being inentionally rude like that, but it's gotta stop.

M ~ Thanks. I hate having to do it but it is for the best.

ChickyBabe ~ Stalking is almost as scary in the blogosphere as it is in real life.

Tara ~ It does suck. I hated having to do it but I can't let one bitter, angry person verbally abuse my online friends

But the spiteful hateful comments are what we as bloggers live for! Rile the masses! Stick a pitchfork in their rear ends (I'm still sticking to my no swearing credo)! Let them comment and then blast 'em!

Okay, I apologize. Now that I have actually read the post and comments in question, that person is an idiot.

Moderation is a good thing in this regard. Maybe down the line you can turn it off, but for now it's a good idea.

I think you did the right thing too. What an A-hole. I don't understand sorry sacks like that. If I don't agree with people's blogs, I just don't read tehm. Why would anyone waste their time reading someone's blog only to taunt the blogger or the readers...Unless they were in junior high, then it makes sense.

Like Kevin, I was just about to tell you to ignore the haters but then I saw the commenting. I love uneducated people who try to cut others down.

Sometimes a blogger's gotta do what a blogger's gotta do!

Kapgar ~ The comments that were in the last post were nothing compared to some of the stuff he has said in the past. He settled down for a while but started going off again so I decided this was the best option.
If you want to read some of the really crazy stuff check out the post called Crime & Punishment. I think that it is linked on the right side of my blog.

Churlita ~ I agree. If I didn't like someones blog or the person, I just wouldn't read it.

Hilly ~ I still feel bad about it. I am trying to post the comments as soon as I can but I do hate the lag time.
