Hump Day Hottie

This weeks Hump Day Hottie was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, KY and is of mostly Irish, German and Cherokee ancestry.
His last name translates to “idiot” in German.
He and his family lived in more than 20 different locations until settling in Florida when he was 7.
He engaged in self-harm as a child, owing to the stress of dealing with family problems and his own insecurity. He has seven or eight scars as a result of his self harm.
In a 1993 interview, he explained his self-injury by saying, "My body is a journal in a way. It's like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist"
He was in some garage bands as a teen and achieved modest success.
After receiving encouragement from Nicholas Cage he decided to pursue acting.
The first major role for this weeks Hump Day Hottie was in the 1984 horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street playing the heroine’s boyfriend and one of Freddy’s victims.
Since then he has appeared in over 30 movies which include Platoon, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, Benny & Joon, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and has his status as a major star was solidified with the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.
He has been married once and engaged to 4 other women including Winona Ryder. He currently lives with French actress Vanessa Paradis. He has two children with Vanessa named Lily-Rose & Jack.

Arrrgh, Captain Jack Sparrow..Excellent choice.

I knew who you were talking about, but I had no idea about the self-injuries!

Whaahoooo!! Schwoooonnnschwing!! What a guy, cant get enough of him. Captain Jack is especially one of my favorite characters that he portrays. He IS Captain Jack! I have had the pleasure of being up close (not personal tho) to Johnny while he was filming Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Not only is he a wonderful actor he is truly a wonderful human being. So very thoughtful and respectful toward his fans. The weeks he was filming near me on the coast, he would spend hours each day after a hard day of shooting out in the ocean on the Black Pearl, taking time to sign autographs and allow as many pictures as you wanted to take of him from 2-3 feet away. Obviously I am a Johnny Depp fan. Thank you Rachel for making him todays Hump Day Hottie.

I'd go to a movie where all he did was birdcalls and farts.

He's the best actor of his generation.

If you wanna see one of the most romantic fables ever filmed, watch Marlon Brando, Faye Dunaway and Johnny Depp put on a master class in the actor's art in the film Don Juan DeMarco.

I had to come back here for more Johnny fix today. I must second David in dc's post regarding the film Don Juan DeMarco. I bought the DVD for $4.99 and have watched it 3 or 4 times. It's mmmmmmmmm. Check it out Rachel. Yep, I am excited from the tip of me head to the tip of me toes and all places inbetween. :)
