A Letter

I received this letter in the mail from D's school. A sticky note was attached to it that said:

Ms. G,

D wrote this in writing class and I wanted to share it with you. I am very proud of him!!

Mrs. S

I opened the letter and started to cry. It was so sweet and unexpected.
My day improved 1000% and every time I think about it I get teary-eyed and can't stop smiling.

It might be a bit hard to read. I had a heck of a time getting a photo that was even semi readable as it is written in pencil.

This is what it says (misspellings included):

"The important thing about my mom is she is beautyful. Her eyes sparkle with the gleaming sun. Her personality makes people want to be her friend. She can cook almost anything. But the most important think about my mom is that she is beautyful."

Whenever I have bad day all I will have to do is pull out this letter. The best part is that he wrote this letter never thinking that I would actually see it. That makes it even more special.

Not to be cliched.... but that's what life's all about.

Also, the way kids spell things make it even more precious. Maybe it's the innocence of the misspelling or something, but it just adds to it. That is such a wonderful note!

dmarks ~ No kidding. At first when I got the letter I was thinking...oh no, what happened. What a fantastic surprise.

Tara ~ I am still trying to figure out where he got the word "gleaming".

That's beyond wonderful, because it's all TRUE. Children have no bs factor, you know? They tell it like it is.

I think you are all of the things he says, and sees, and more. And I haven't even met you, yet!

I think beautyful is a good word. Makes it sound like you're in a beauty pagent or something.

And having a mom who can cook almost anything is always good. Nice to know you when someone appreciates your talents.

You need to make sure you keep that forever. You know you're doing a good job, when your child thinks so much of you.

Rachel that's an amazing note from D! Definitely a keeper forever! This past Friday my son spent the day with Papa at work since he didn't have school. I got numerous emails that day from him. He scanned and sent me his hand, the he sent me his hand again but wrote "Hi Mommy" on it :-) Got some "I Love You" emails and some "How are you" emails". Made my day so much better than it was. Kids are the greatest!!!

beth ~ Awww you are going to get me all teary-eyed too.
Thanks!

laughingattheslut ~ I think it is a fantastic word too.
He says I can cook almost anything but he won't eat most of it. He is picky.

Sizzle ~ I thought it was really nice of his teacher to mail it to me. I am going to frame it.

Churlita ~ Thanks. I do my best. I am sure that Stinky and Coadster think just as much of you.

Reformat ~ D just learned how to send email and he only has access to it at my house. He will occasionally send me an email first thing in the morning and then I get it when I come into work and check my gmail.

Dammit, now I'm crying. How thoughtful of your son. This is a shows what a magnificent job you're doing with your boy. Good for you Rachel.

laughingattheslut ~ I don't know what the assignment was. I didn't ask.

moonbeam ~ Thanks.. Sometimes he reminds me SO much of his dad so when people say that he reminds them of me it makes my day :)

babybull40 ~ I thought that he did a great job with his vocabulary.
His teachers tell me all the time how expansive his vocab is and that he uses words in the correct connotation that none of the other kids even know.
I know that when he uses the word defenestrate that my work is done... j/k

Diva ~ I thought it was super sweet too. Totally made my day.

Egan ~ Are your eyes glistening now too?

Wanderlust ~ We do make a good team. Except for bike riding. He can wipe the floor with me.

m ~ Thanks. I hope that I am raising him right.

Erica ~ I would rather have this letter to cherish forever than someone offering me 10k for it.
