Hump Day Hottie

This weeks HDH was born on August 18, 1969 in Boston, Ma.
His mother was an English teacher who died of a brain tumor in 1997. His father is an attorney and former federal prosecutor under the Carter administration.
He graduated from Yale in 1991 with a B.A. in history.
At Yale he became heavily involved in theater. Actors Ron Livingston and Paul Giamatti were classmates.
Following graduation he worked in Osaka, Japan for his grandfathers company, Enterprise Foundation.
He cut his acting teeth playing a series of dark, grotesque characters, quickly launching him into the spotlight, beginning with 1996's Primal Fear.
In 2000, he made his debut as a director with Keeping The Faith.
He is known for his reluctance to embrace his celebrity status and has said, " If I ever have to stop taking the subway, I'm gonna have a heart attack."
He has put a lot of time and money toward social activist causes, including improving the quality of living in low-income communities.
He has dated actresses Salma Hayek & Drew Barryman, and was once engaged to Courtney Love.
He is a self-proclaimed Deadhead.
He is probably most well known for playing opposite Brad Pitt in the cult favorite Fight Club.

Thanks. Was wondering who he was, as some recent movie he was in came up in conversation the other evening. Somehow, I've managed to see none of his movies so far.

However, his name always makes me think of Ed Kramden's trashman pal played by Art Carney in "The Honeymooners".

I love him. The first movie I saw him in was "Primal Fear" and he just amazed me with his acting. It was an unforgettable performance.

I love the fact that he doesn't want to embrace his celebrity status.

I agree with tara....he absolutely blew me away in "Primal Fear." And Grizzy and I loved the one he directed (of course, HE'S a huge Jenna Elfman fan...but I digress.)

Can't say I ever thought of him as hot, but he's certainly intriguing.

:)

I think he is a great actor! I didn't know he had such a diverse love life.

Have you ever done John Krasinski as a hump day hottie?

Primal Fear gave it away. And anyone who can figure out how to get it on with Salma Hayek is ok in my book.

I loved him in Fight Club too. I'm even willing to forgive the Courtney Love engagement. We've all(ahem) made mistakes in our past relationships.

You meant Drew Barrymore, right?

Edward Norton was awesome in Keeping the Faith.

The premise sounds like a bad joke (a priest and a rabbi wrestle with their feelings about the girl they both grew up with) but the players (Norton, Ben Stiller and Jenna Elfman) transcend the cutesiness of it and give you a laugh, a cry, and something to think about.

Milos Forman, better known as a director, does a wonderful supporting role as an elderly priest advising Norton.

Eli Wallach, Anne Bancroft (of blesssed memory) and Holland Taylor are consummate pros too.

GREAT DATE MOVIE.

He also went to high right down the street from me in Ellicott City, MD. He is quite an inspiration for all the dorks of the world after dating the likes of Selma Hayek. Also Rounders was awesome.

Oh also American History X is a really good movie. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

What women have played opposite him?

dmarks ~ I have seen a few. He is very good at changing his looks for a movie.

babybull40 ~ He is a great actor.

Tara ~ I saw him for the first time in Fight Club. I haven't seen Primal Fear.

Beth ~ Hot is a relative term. Heck, Steve Jobs was a HDH one week because of the iPhone.

Freckle ~ I didn't know about the Courtney Love thing until I researched him. I guess there is no accounting for taste.

reformat ~ I haven't he has been added to the list.

minijonb ~ If you had to get it on with Courtney Love first would it be worth it to be with Selma Hayak?

Churlita ~ I can attest to past mistakes in who I chose to date.

David In DC ~ I need to see that movie. It looked really good.

Eric ~ Did you go to the same high school?

Dennis ~ Drew Barrymore, Jenna Elfman, Naomi Watts, Jessica Biel, Charlize Theron are a few.

I am glad to be of service.....

I liked Ed Norton in Red Dragon, Fight Club, and American History X. I happen to own these movies and I thought, even being a dude myself, he would be a good choice. Seems like sort of a regular guy type...and not over the top.

Thanks for stopping at home #2...I will add you to my main site as well. I have encountered you enough out in Blog-world to know you.....just link on my screen name

Great choice! Who knew it would go so far! And Courtney Love. That was a shock.

Not sure why, but I've never really thought of Ed Norton as a hottie. But I did think he was excellent in Fight Club and I enjoyed Keeping the Faith a great deal. I know I did see Primal Fear way back then, but damned if I can recall anything about it right now. Off to IMDB I go!
