Roughing It ~ Sort Of

This weekend I am going camping. We were going to go up to a place called Hardy Dam and pitch our tents and have a fantastic weekend.
I went to the grocery store and spend over $100 on the things that I was assigned to bring. Plates, bowls, spoons, knives, forks, hot dogs, buns, and soda for 10-15 people. I also purchased a few additional things for snacks for the boys.
I got home last night and called my friend Rico to let him know that I got everything and he told me that there was a change of plans.
Rico's partner Donnie isn't feeling well, so instead of going camping we are going to go to the lake on Sunday.
I was NOT happy. I explained to Rico that I just spent over $100 on the stuff that he told me to get and we decided that instead of nixing the camping all together that we are going to rough it in his front yard.
Rico lives in a huge house with a very sizeable front yard. We are going to pitch tents, use a barbeque grill for a fire pit (not allowed to have bonfires or even those regular fire pits where he lives) and sleep in the out of doors. And one night we will go to a friends house and have a real bonfire.
He lives right across the street from a nature trail so the boys are bringing their bikes and will go riding around there and also in the 3 street cul-de-sac that Rico lives in.
We are still going to go to the lake on Sunday and take out his uncles pontoon boat so that should be a lot of fun other than the fact that I can't expose my back to sun because of the tattoo so I will have to remain covered up. I can't go swimming either but I can wear a t-shirt and get my legs wet.
Even though it isn't what we had planned, I think that this is going to be just as much fun. At least this way I get to take a shower and use indoor plumbing.

It sounds like a win-win situation.

You had me at 'indoor plumbing'. I love to go camping, but am never thrilled at nature calling in, well, nature. Men don't usually realize the difficulty of that for women. So, have a great weekend, it sounds like way too much fun.

I'm so glad that the stuff you bought won't go to waste! Well I'm sure you are too, since it was 100 dollars worth. The whole weekend sounds so fun!

Hey, your most recent Hump Day Hottie, Hugh Jackman, wound up in my dream last night. Nothing exotic, but he was showing me a photo of his father and the father looked just like him. I told him this, and he was very pleased. That was all there was to it. Lol.

Sounds like a fun adventure. Ahh..the great outdoors with indoor plumbing, perfect. I am more the hotel/motel type person. The couple of times I have gone camping with my kids in the redwoods I loved it....except for the bathroom situation. Sure cant beat mother nature tho...beautiful.

Have fun!

I have always been a very "roughing it in moderation" type, so it sounds like a perfect compromise to me. Have a great weekend.

HOORAY for indoor plumbing! :-) My son has been begging to go camping BUT I was not about to go camping while pregnant - I'm uncomfortable enough. And I don't think anybody planned on packing up my king size bed. So maybe a different year we'll get around to that.
