Hump Day Hottie

This weeks Hump Day Hottie was born on October 12, 1968 in Sydney, Australia and is the youngest of five children. When he was eight years old his mother left the family and went back to England and he remained behind with his father and his siblings.

After finished school he pumped petrol at Shell, Wahroonga and worked as a part-time clown for children's parties while studying at the University of Technology, Sydney. He graduated in 1989 with a BA in communications, having majored in journalism.

He married Deborra-Lee Furness in 1996 and after two miscarriages they adopted two children, Oscar ,7 and Ava, 2.

He knows how to juggle 5 balls in the air at the same time.

He does not smoke in real life and hates having to do so in films.

He sang the Australian National Anthem in from of 100,000 people at the Melbourne Cricket ground in 1998 and at the 1999 NRL Grand Final in front of 108,000 people.

His early film work includes Erskinville Kings and Paperback Hero. He also appeared in movies such as Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing & The Prestige.

His most famous role that launched him to stardom in the United States wasn't originally his role. It was originally to be Dougray Scotts role but after Scott was held up shooting scenes for Mission Impossible II, this weeks Hump Day Hottie got the role. Even his wife told him not to take the role and later she commented that she was glad that he ignored her.

As he stands nearly a foot taller than his character the film makers were frequently forced to shoot him at unusual angles or only from the waist up to make him appear shorter than he actually was. He was also required to add a great deal of muscle for the role and at the end of his training could bench press 315 lbs. and leg press 1000 lbs.

He became an instant star for his role as Wolverine in the movie X-Men and reprised the role for X2: X-Men United and 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand.

He is producing a Wolverine spin-off, to be released sometime in 2008.

This weeks Hump Day Hottie is ~ Hugh Jackman

And, from what I hear, his song-and-dance skills, and theatrical acting skills (very different skill set than for playing Wolverine) showcased in the Peter Allen bio-play on Broadway were first rate. Great choice.

Oh, and..... FIRST.

Love him! I also love Dougray Scott, but X-Men wouldn't have been the same without Hugh.

David In D.C. ~ You are first!! Yay!!! He has done a lot of theater and is very good from what I hear.

Chickybabe ~ Glad I could oblige.

Freckle ~ It is a good thing when you can drool all you want and your husband doesn't mind.

Tara ~ I agree. He made the movie. I can't imagine them without him.

Dmarks ~ I did too. Strange how they tried to make him look shorter though.

babybull40 ~ He is the kind of man who will only get better looking as he ages. Jerk!

moonbeam ~ LOL humper? I think you coined a new word there. He was great in Van Helsing.

Mag ~ Welcome to my blog!!! Hugh is definitely hot and totally qualifies for Hump Day Hottie.

Diva ~ Thanks!!!

Churlita ~ You should have seen the drool that I had to wipe off my keyboard when choosing a photo. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Ha, this guy shares my mom's birthday. He's a pretty good looking dude so once again I approve of this selection.

Oh yes, we do love Hugh. ;) Though I have to say he looks a little odd bald (I watched The Fountain last night)... I much prefer the tight jeans and t-shirt look from X-men.

Wolverine is a good choice. The guy is a pretty strong actor and usually believable as a given character.

There were men in Van Helsing? I had no idea.

That's what I get for getting all my movie news in Maxim photo spreads.
