You gotta love it when you accidentally set your alarm for 10:50 at night instead of 6:50 in the morning and then you wake up with 25 minutes to get you and your kid ready to go.
I took a shower that lasted about 2 minutes, brushed teeth, got dressed and even had time to get my lunch together and put on makeup.
On a different note, I ended up trying to comfort a friend over the phone until about 1:00 this morning. Why do women always blame themselves for the failings of men? She kept asking me what was wrong with her because her boyfriend cheated on her.
I told her she was asking the wrong question. She should be asking what was wrong with him that he would cheat on a beautiful, intelligent, amazing woman.
By the end of the call I had her laughing instead of crying and she said that she felt "10 times better".
Why do women always take the blame on themselves for the failings of others? Why do we think that we can change people?

I don't know, and I do that too much, even if a guy isn't involved. It's almost a mixed up perspective.
Is she single and in the area. I could help.
I thought I was rushing around late this morning... your story tops mine.
Your friend... she didn't know men are pigs? =:-|
Oh how I wish I knew.... if anybody figures this out, feel free to stop on by my site and let me know too. I have always attempted to be superwoman, I've always found men who have terrible problems (drinking, gambling, etc.)and get involved and then blame myself at the end when it doesn't work out. Then years later I think "Wow, I'm stupid as hell - look at them - they suck - it WASN'T me! It had nothing to do with ME! They are just losers and didn't WANT to change - plain and simple" But try to convince me of that at that time - hahahahaha - riiiiiight. Hugs to your friend - glad you cheered her up!
Tara ~ After the last comments that I made I wonder how evolved we actually are.
Anon ~ Sorry, I can't divulge specifics.
MJB~ Of course she knows that men are pigs. She just forgot it for a while.
Reformat ~ I think that a lot of behavior is inherent. We push the envelope and try to get away with things from infancy. If you are with a man who has gotten away with these type of behaviors in a former relationship it is almost hard wired in their brain that they can get away with it again with few or no recriminations.
It isn't until they have lost horribly that they learn (sometimes) that it isn't an acceptable behavior.
I also think that people (all people not just men) would cheat a lot more if they thought that they could get away with it.
Very original. You stole the title of a song and posted on how you can't get up for work.
My body wakes up without an alarm because I have a lot on my mind. Seems like you don't.
Anon ~ Song lyrics are useless unless they can be utilized in other non-musical formats. Like blog post titles.
I usually wake up about 10 minutes before my alarm goes off but since I was up inordinately late for a Sunday night I am not surprised that I didn't wake up as usual.
I probably don't have as much on my mind as you do since I don't worry about things that I can't change nor do I sweat the small stuff. I just blog about it.
Well you just made yourself out to be quite the winner.
Congrats on a stress free boring life.
ANON1
Anon1 ~ My life is as stressful as the next persons. I just don't worry about it.
I am sure that you would consider my life a bit boring and that is perfectly fine with me.
I don't need an adrenaline filled life. I am very satisfied with my life the way that it is.
Awww your little profile icon is different. It's more snazzy but I miss the disgruntled looking woman.
I think it's because we, as women, like to fix things and therefore we think that something must be our fault, because if it is, than we have the power to fix it.
I used to belive that if I was thin enough, pretty enough, had sex enough, was smart enough, independent enough, I could prevent a guy from cheating. But I just don't think that is the case.
It's easier to put the blame on ourselves because that is something that you can change. But when you point it to another person (usually a guy) it's out of your hands and there ain't nothing you can do about it.
And feeling powerless sucks.
I mostly get up automatically, but set an alarm as a backup. Sometimes my body and my clock fail me and I oversleep. Thats got to be one of the worst feelings! And my kids are always peeved at me, because I get them up, not an alarm (they ignore those) Your friend is lucky to have you to talk to. Women always take too much on themselves when things go wrong.
Rachel, in this specific example, I lean towards nature for why men are pigs, and nurture/society for why women put up with it.
I think Anon 1 was being sarcastic in giving you credit for turning a song into a title, and then cleverly calling you a "winner" and "boring."
He (I presume male) obviously leads an exciting life, what with all his time to read about yours on your blog and all. Quite the winner.
Wanderlust ~ I don't think that there is any one thing that women can do to prevent a man to cheat. He has to decide it for himself.
l.b. ~ You should have seen me waking D up this morning. I don't think I have seen him jump out of bed that quickly in a long time.
Balderdash ~ Anon1 is my (insert sarcasm)favorite internet troll. He likes to try and stir things up. When I answer his unreasonable comments in a reasonable manner it doesn't provide him the ammunition that he desires.
My responses towards him, although honest, were very much tongue in cheek.
Rachel,
Still mad because my first blog post got more comments then your WHOLE BLOG! LMFAO...
Three letters for you...
G-E-D...
What type of government assistance did you take this month?
ANON1
Hi Rachel,
I love your new profile photo!
I used to be attracted to trouble makers and invariably I would end up trying to change them and their habits, including drinking.
With the cheating I would always run though, I couldn't take it or forgive them.
Women are just different, for example: I ended a relationship with my ex by being honest and he did it by cheating on me, quite a difference.
Anon1 ~ It isn't hard to get 60 comments on your first post when it was an already popular blog that you piggy backed on.
Also, about a third of the comments were yours were yours.
You would think that by paying the government taxes for the past 17 years that I would have figured out a way to qualify for some kind of assistance by now but this pesky job that I have had for almost 7 years just doesn't allow me to qualify.
Erica ~ Thanks!! I like the new avatar too.
Who do you think is the more retalitory sex? I honestly don't know. I think that men are more in your face about getting back at you while women are nastier about it.
Obviously, he wasn't good enough for her. Good thing you were there to remind her of that. Hope she gets over him quickly!
