Mac Attack

I was around 11 or 12 and had just boiled noodles for macaroni and cheese and realized that I needed the strainer.

I bent down the get the strainer and failed to notice that my hand was still on the handle of the pot and it was sitting on the counter right above me and accidentally dumped boiling hot water on my head.

Genius that I am, I always put butter in the water to give the noodles a better taste. Of course, this helps keep the heat in too.

I screamed and ran into the bathroom and stuck my head under the bathtub faucet. My mom brought me a bucket and we filled it and I stood there leaning over the side of the bathtub with my head in the bucket of cold water for about 20 - 30 minutes.

When I was feeling better and had my hair in a towel, my mom brought me a bowl of the macaroni and cheese (the noodles had stayed in the pan). I didn't want it, but when me sister told my mom that she was stupid for bringing it to me because there was no way that I would want it after I dumped the boiling water on my head, I ate it and told my mom that it was really good so that I didn't hurt her feelings.

Got any good stories about hurting yourself?

I also have a boob story. I once took a nap and in the middle of it, the phone rang. I was so out of it, that I rolled out of bed to get the phone and fell off. Since I was so close to the edge and high up in the bed, when I rolled off the bed, my breast hit the corner of the night table and said corner went right into my nipple. PAIN, PAIN, PAIN!!

Not an hour ago, I slammed my head into the corner of my overhead bin in my cubicle at work. I have a cut and a goose egg on the day that my boyfriend is supposed to get back into town, Nice.

What a timely post for me.

My sister actually had a similar macaroni and cheese accident. Only she got had the boiling water dumped down her back, suffered third degree burns, and had to have multiple skin grafts. I can't remember it she ate the mac 'n cheese afterwards though. Probably.

I dropped a knife on my foot once. It isn't an interesting story, but oh well:)

Oddly enough, I can't remember the times I hurt myself...I think it's because it usually involves a blow to the head.

That reminds me of a story our health teacher in junior high told us, but I won't get into that. Let's see...injuries...My parents gave me a microscope set for my birthday once, and it came with a little scalpel. I was absentmindedly peeling off the peeling paint from our back steps, when the blade slipped and sliced open one of my fingers. I thought I was gonna die. But obviously I didn't. ;)

13 years old- I chased a boy atop a concrete stage and feel 5 feet crushing my shoulder and clavicle.

11 years old- I was hurrying through a kite making class and jabbed an exacto knife into my thumb. It should have gotten stitched, but I was too scared to tell my teacher i'd done it since I was rushing.

heh. I'm a walking accident. I fall out of bed every single night- seriously. And it started when I was in the 4th grade. I fell out of bed and somehow landed on my hand. I shattered almost every bone in my right wrist and forearm. When my parents took me to the ER, and told the doctor that I broke it falling out of bed, they called child services. Apparently, that excuse is used a lot in abuse cases. My poor mom.

Also, in 5th grade, I was playing with a friend, and we decided to jump off the shed in his back yard. We didn't notice the nails that we laying on the ground. I jumped and one went through my foot- and I mean completely through it.

I'm such a klutz- and so is the boyfriend. I'm always covered in scrapes and bruises.

When I was about 12 or 13 I was out helping in the fields with the hay.. loading the wagon.. We had stopped to take a break and I was sitting on the edge of the front of the wagon.. Henry started up the tractor and moved ahead and I fell under the front tires.. over my head, right arm and leg.. I came out of it with no broken bones and a few abrasions.. I was very sore for a few days...to this day I tease Henry about running me over... Hey at least I can laugh about it now...
