Either last summer or the summer prior to that I went to Michigan's Adventure with Funny Girl, Anne and our kids.We were having a great time riding the rides and hanging out together.
We had been riding some of the roller coasters and decided to go on the Wild Cat which is an older, wooden roller coaster. We got in line and waited our turn.
I got into a seat with Devon and started to buckle my seat belt. It wouldn't buckle.I twisted this way and that way trying to get the damn buckle into the slot and nothing would work.
I was wedged in so tightly (there was a divider between the seats) that I could barely get my fingers in there to try and maneuver the belt. Finally, I was informed that I had to get off of the ride if I couldn't buckle the belt.
Mortified, I got off of the ride and had to stand on the other side, across from the other people in line and wait for the ride to finish so that I could get off with my party.
I stood there for what seemed like the longest roller coaster ride in the world until it finally rolled back into the loading and unloading area and my friends and son got off.
That was the first time that my weight had prevented me from doing something with my friends and family.
By the end of this summer, I am going to go back to Michigan's Adventure, ride that damn ride and smile the whole way.

Worse things have happened to my brother because of this.
He rode something at AstroWorld that went up-side-down. The ride has something that holds down your shoulders and connects with something between your legs. The place where the two fasten together has a series of notches, and he squeezed into the thing and fastened the thing together on the next to last notch.
When the ride went up, the thing holding him down slipped a notch. He was trying to hold the thing together with his hands, cause if it slipped again there were no more notches.
Another time he stood in line for hours, only to find out he didn't fit in the seat.
At a couple of places with the new coasters and such they have put an example of the seat at the beginning of the line so that you can see how all the safety stuff works. And also if you're worried about being too big to fit, or so small that you might slip out, you can sort of test it out before you stand in line.
I live so close to that place, but I have never gone. Yet.
I know for years that they gave you $4 or something like that off for bringing in an empty can of Dr. Pepper.
You should ride it twice just to make up for that. It will be a proud moment.
Too many people share in your experience. Your honesty is so helpful to those who have been through the same thing.
....The Wildcat is not even that good of a coaster...but I digress.
It's the little goals like this that ultimately will help you keep your mind on track to lose the weight, I think.
Goals are a good thing, store it in the back of your mind and use it to your advantage.
I can't remember when I last went on a rollercoaster.. It's been awhile... By the end of summer you will achieve this goal and not only smile, but scream at the top of your lungs...
Damn right you will. AND you will be the most gorgeous woman there that day, because nothing is better than a strong, intelligent and confident woman....you only have to look at Playtah to know that, right?
I celebrate you today. I love watching you soar on this journey.
I can't wait to hear the end of the story. It will be so great.
You go for it! Personally I can never pass up a roller coaster and hey, beats flying outta your seat cuz you are too thin! I never had that problem but I worry about the tiny people flying out sometimes...oh and I guess children too. They are pretty tiny.
I love that you articulate things that most people don't.
*hugs* go for it! :D
You are slacking. Time for an update.
