Hump Day Hottie

This weeks HDH was born in Grayshott, Hampshire, England on September 10, 1960 to Shirley, a comparative religion lecturer and David, a history lecturer.

He has one sister, Kate & a younger brother, Jonathan, who is also an actor.

His parents were born and raised in India as his grandparents (both sets) performed missionary work abroad.

He spent part of his childhood in Nigeria and lived in St. Louis, MO when he was 11.

In 1990 he and his current girlfriend, Meg Tilly, had son Will. He married Italian documentary filmmaker Livia Giuggioli in 1997 and has had two sons, Luca and Matteo.

It was the 1995 BBC television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that he gained wider renown and he became known as a heart-throb because of his role as Fitzwilliam Darcy.

He has starred in a number of "genuinely British" films and series including The English Patient, Fever Pitch, Shakespeare In Love, Bridget Jones's Diary, The Importance of Being Earnest, Love Actually, What a Girl Wants & Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. He has also appeared in recent television productions, Including Donovan Quick, Conspiracy and starred as Aishwarya Rai in The Last Legion.
In a 2006 interview he was asked "Who are the women in your life?" He replied "My mother, my wife and Jane Austen".

This weeks Hump Day Hottie is ~ Colin Firth

sometimes i feel that Jane Austen is also one of the women in my life...

anyway, nice choice with Darcy/Firth as HDH! i want to grow up to be like the soccer coach/teacher character he plays in the British version of Fever Pitch... wait, that won't require much work...

i hope you and Devon are doing well!

Jane Austen owes him. I bet he has brought more women to her cult than anyone!
Very cute.

Drooooooooooooooooooooollll...

I love the last line in Bridget Jones, about how nice boys don't kiss like this.....well, you know the rest of it.

Sigh.

But I'm confused about the timeline thing..his current girlfriend is Meg Tilly and they had a son in 1990 and he got married in 1997 to someone else and had kids with her?

I guess I could look it up for myself but it's ten thousand degrees outside today with humidity of a hundred percent, I kid you not, and I just got off work and I'm tired and lazy. So I'll just sit here and wonder. And drool some more over such a great guy.

:)

Glad you're back...you were missed.

GREATTTTT Choice.

Both RFB and my favorite former boss are nuts over him.

I loved him as Mr. Darcy in both Pride and Prejudice and in Bridget Jones' Diary.

If you like teenager movies, he's also great in the Amanda Bynes vehicle "What a Girl Wants"

Glad you're back.

Love him! Good choice. He made a great Darcy, but I loved him best in Valmont.
